YOUR GUIDE
All packages include an initial proofing gallery. Our retouching timeline begins once you submit your choices, ensuring the fastest possible delivery.
Wardrobe & Looks
Your attire is key to setting the tone for your industry. Keep it simple and professional.
-
Focus on Solid Colors:
Navy, gray, black, and deep tones work best. Avoid distracting patterns, stripes, or large logos.
-
Bring Layers:
Jackets, blazers, and cardigans add variety and structure without changing your base outfit entirely.
-
Fit is Everything:
Clothes should be clean, pressed, and fit you well. Avoid anything baggy or worn out.
-
Keep Jewelry Minimal:
Avoid large or reflective pieces that draw attention away from your face.
Grooming & Preparation
The best photos start with feeling your best. Small details matter on camera.
-
Haircuts/Color:
Schedule a haircut or color at least one week before your session so it has time to settle naturally.
-
Makeup:
Keep makeup light and natural. We recommend bringing blotting papers and translucent powder to control shine.
-
Shave/Groom:
Ensure facial hair is neatly trimmed. If you prefer a clean shave, do so the morning of the session.
-
Get Your Rest:
Aim for 8 hours of sleep the night before and stay hydrated. Lack of rest shows immediately under studio lighting.
After your session, we follow a simple, precise process to deliver your final, polished images efficiently:
The Process (1-3 Days)- Proofing Gallery: Within 1-3 business days, you receive a private, online gallery of the best unretouched photos for your selection.
- Image Selection: You select your final images based on your package (e.g., 1, 3, or 6 images).
Our standard retouching is designed to enhance your appearance while maintaining a natural, authentic look:
- Retouching Includes: Blemish removal, light skin smoothing, eye/teeth brightening, and stray hair management. No heavy manipulation.
- Final Delivery: You receive your final, retouched images via the same online gallery (downloadable).
- File Formats: Both High-Resolution (Print-Ready) and Web-Optimized (LinkedIn) files are provided for maximum utility.
Retouching is a subtle, natural enhancement. We focus on temporary distractions and light corrections that make you look like yourself on your best day. We avoid heavy manipulation that would make you look unnatural or recognizable.
Frequently Asked Questions- Who owns the image copyright? You receive a full commercial license for your final, retouched images. Sharp Light Studios retains the copyright, but you have the legal right to use the photos for all professional and marketing purposes.
- Do I get the raw files? No. Raw (unprocessed) files are not provided as they are not a finished product and require specialized software. Your final retouched images are the completed, high-end product.
- Can I purchase extra retouches? Yes. Additional retouched images can be purchased at a rate of $75 per image. This includes the full retouching process and delivery of both file formats.
- How often should I update my headshot? Professionals should update their headshots every 1-2 years, or anytime their appearance changes significantly (e.g., new hairstyle, new glasses, major role change).
- Do you offer on-location sessions? Yes. Our standard "BOOK NOW" sessions are for in-studio appointments. For on-location services at your office or home, please use the contact form to inquire about custom projects or group bookings.
- Should I smile in my headshot? A natural, approachable smile is generally recommended as it conveys warmth and confidence. The level of intensity can be adjusted based on your industry and desired brand image.
- What is the difference between a headshot and a portrait? A headshot is a tight crop, focused primarily on the face and shoulders, typically used for professional profiles like LinkedIn. A portrait is a broader, more editorial shot that can include the torso, props, and environment to tell a story about your personality or work.
